PCB REVERSE ENGINEERING

Our team helps your save money and time through our expertise in PCB Reverse Engineering.

There are two documents we need to build.

GERBER: We create GERBER files for circuit boards to be ready for production.

BOM (Bill of Material): We will create the BOM file to document thee part specifications and brand information. Any issues encountered during actual production will be corrected and the BOM will be adjusted accordingly.

For board thicknesses less than 1.0mm, the tolerance is +/- 0.1mm. For board thicknesses 1.0mm or greater, the tolerance is +/- 10%.

For re-layouts, we primarily rely on the good working samples provided by the customer, and we will try sourcing identical parts to ensure that the produced PCBs meet the required standards and features

Before proceeding, we will first verify if there are programmed components on the printed circuit board. If the components are locked or the cracking process fails, it will affect the subsequent production flow. In such cases, we will need the customer to provide the program or outsource assistance for cracking. (AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED)
.
In the event of discontinued or unavailable components, we will first consider alternative parts with the same specifications available in the market or components that are still in production. This may involve adjusting the layout, changing positions, or altering pin configurations due to differences in component appearances. The modified component datasheets or samples will be provided to the board manufacturer. Additionally, we can redesign the layout based on the customer's specific requirements.

Note: Consideration must be given to whether the mating-parts (e.g., the layout product and the customer's machine socket) are compatible and align properly.

When making layout changes without altering the design, we use the customer's provided board to remove the components, de-solder the board, and then reverse engineering it. The components from the original board are then installed onto the new layout board. This process results in a restored board, which, along with a new board (consisting of the layout board and newly procured parts), is provided to the customer for verification.
Exceptions: If components are completely damaged during removal or if the customer's provided board is non-functional or includes BGA components, we are unable to provide a restored board.

Verification and Potential Issues:

Can the original components function properly on the new board?

Normal Operation: The layout of the circuit board is correct.
Abnormal Operation: Issues may arise if the original sample has faulty components (which is more likely if the customer only provides defective sample boards), if the components are damaged during removal, if there are errors in the circuit board layout, or if incorrect parts are used.
Can the new board, made with newly procured materials, function properly?

Successful Layout: The layout and new materials are functioning as expected.

Cost Savings on Redevelopment

By using the existing layout and components, we can significantly reduce redevelopment costs.

Better Performance than Second-Hand Market Products

Our approach offers better performance compared to second-hand products available on the market, saving on future maintenance costs and time.

01.

Detailed Analysis and Documentation

We meticulously dissect and document every aspect of your PCB, including component placement, routing, and layer structure. This detailed analysis helps in understanding the original design intentions and potential areas for improvement.

02.

Accurate Reproduction

Using advanced tools and techniques, we recreate the PCB design with high precision, ensuring that the reproduced board matches the original in functionality and performance.

03.

DESIGN OPTIMIZATION

Our experts identify opportunities for design enhancements, such as improving component layout, enhancing signal integrity, and reducing noise. These optimizations lead to better performance and reliability of the PCB.

04.

COST REDUCTION

By reverse engineering and understanding the PCB design, we can suggest alternative components or materials that maintain or improve performance while reducing overall costs.

05.

LEGACY SYSTEM SUPPORT

We help clients maintain and extend the life of legacy systems by reverse engineering outdated or obsolete PCBs, ensuring continued functionality without the need for complete system overhauls.

REVERSE ENGINEERING SAVES MONEY & TIME

FOR MANUFACTURING

By reverse engineering and modifying the layout for the motor driver board, we helped Towa Semiconductor Equipment in Japan save costs and enabled their old machinery to be reused, eliminating the need to purchase new equipment.

We assisted in reverse engineering the circuit boards for the platform gate control system of Taipei MRT’s first metro line which started in 1996.
